I’m a very soft touch, and it’s extremely rare that I have to enforce these policies, but it’s good for everyone to have them in writing.

Scheduling
Lessons are typically scheduled on a recurring basis, either weekly or every two weeks. I ask that lessons taught at the student’s house be on weekends, though I do make exceptions. 

Billing/payment
I ask students to pay for each month’s lessons/classes at the first meeting of that month, though I can make exceptions when necessary. Usually the first month is paid week to week, as we get acquainted, and you decide you want to continue on a regular basis. I accept cash or personal checks. Remember to check your calendar to see if the current month has four lessons, or five.

Missed lessons
Please call at least 24 hours before your lesson to reschedule. If you call less than 24 hours before, you need to ask very nicely! Otherwise, the lesson is considered missed and I cannot credit or reschedule. If something goes horribly wrong and I have to reschedule your lesson at the last moment, we will do a make-up at your convenience, or credit the miss toward the following month.

Refunds
Sorry, I can’t give refunds for partial months of lessons. If for some reason you need to discontinue lessons in the middle of a month, I can credit you for the missed lessons when you are able to make them up.

COVID policies
Since 2020 I have been teaching lessons exclusively online. In early 2022 I have begun teaching a few students in person, so long as everyone is vaccinated and masked. With the latest Omicron situation, however, I will continue doing most lessons via Skype, Zoom, or FaceTime.
